Oppo is a great smartphone brand in the budget smartphone industry. Oppo has released the R11 on May. Now they have come up with the new 'S' model of the R11, the Oppo R11s which is not yet released in India but is available to buy in the US.
The new S model from Oppo contains a gorgeous 6 inch 18:9 AMOLED screen with slimmer bezels compared to the original R11.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset which is quite common in devices at this price range and delivers top-notch performance. The Snapdragon 660 is a direct successor to the Snapdragon 653 model. The Snapdragon 660 also contains the Adreno 512 GPU, which offers a lag-free gaming experience.
The Oppo R11s comes with a dual-camera setup with a 20 MP secondary camera FOR low-light photography.
Backing all this up, the device has a 3200 Li-Po sealed battery with fast charging support.
Oppo R11s runs on the Color OS 3.2 which is a bit clone like copy of the iOS. Oppo is a smartphone manufacture brand that doesn’t depend on the uniqueness of the device and rather copies features form other phones.
Just like the iPhone X, the R11s also has a new face ID like feature. The only difference being, it is less secure than the iPhone.
The R11s is also running the Android 7.1 Nougat like the Oppo R11. The only drawback is that you can’t use the 18:9 aspect ratio to use split-screen mode, Picture in Picture etc. which is only available in Android 8.0 Oreo.
The device is not yet launched in India but is expected to launch by mid-March. In the US, this device costs $539.

The main drawbacks of the R11s are that it doesn’t offer Dust or Water Ingress Protection, which is bummer as most smartphones at this price range should have at least some sort of dust/water protection. Also the hybrid card slot limits user’s from using a dual SIM if SD card is inserted.
Another main disadvantage is that it still doesn’t support 1080p@60 fps recording which is quite disappointing.
So now coming to the crucial part, would I recommend it?
The bigger, wider screen is obviously one of the highlight of the R11s and the design, even though a slight clone of the iPhone, is premium for daily usage. But considering the price range this device is pretty good but there is enough room for improvements. Also I think the OnePlus 5T offers more value for buck.
