You can find the motherboard model and BIOS version number when your PC boots up.You can also find the version number details by pressing CTRL+R and typing "msinfo32" in run dialog. This will open the System Information utility present in Windows and it gives all the details of your PC.
2. Downloading the Flash File from Official Website
Go to the official motherboard website and search for your motherboards model. Go to the Downloads section and search for the BIOS flash file for your Motherboard. Check the version no. If both the no.s are same, your BIOS is up-to-date.
If not then, download the file from the website and open it. Follow the onscreen instructions to update your BIOS.
4. Disable your Antivirus & Background Apps
Make sure you disable your Antivirus before your update your BIOS, as the Antivirus tends to hinder with the update process.Also as a precaution, disable all other memory hogging apps running in the background.
5. Do not Turn OFF your Computer
Your PC may restart occasionally during update process, please do not try to turn it OFF during the update process. This may lead to system instability.
6. Check for any Beeps
After the bios update your PC may restart and beep to show the status of the update. Most newer motherboards show the status on screen. Check with the Motherboards Documentation to find out.
