Oppo R15 Pro Review : The iPhone Replica with a Perfect Notch

Courtesy : iGyaan

We all know that Oppo is a selfie centric Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Well, the company has released the new Oppo R15 PRO.

The Oppo R15 PRO sports a great design with slimmer bezels closer to the iPhone X and whether you like it or not, this device also comes with a notch. But it has done it in a more sensible sort of way In fact; at the first look many may mistake it as the iPhone X. The smartphone comes at a price tag of Rs. 35,000.

Now let’s dive into the main aspects of this smartphone:

DESIGN & DISPLAY

As I have mentioned earlier the device sports a great design combined with the slimmest bezel which is almost same as that of the iPhone X approach. The phone is also much thinner than the iPhone X with a thickness of 7.4 mm.

We can see that power button and the volume rockers are placed on the right and left sides of the phone respectively. Oppo has really done well with the notch of this device. The notch at the top of the display is much smaller than the iPhone X, designed just enough to fit the small front camera and the earpiece.

The R15 Pro comes with a 1080p OLED 6.28 inch display which has a cool 18.99:9 screen ratio. Thankfully, the Oppo R15 also comes with a headphone jack.

PERFORMANCE & BATTERY

The Oppo R15 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SOC which is a mid-ranger and comes with the Kryo 260 Octa -core CPU. The device has a 3450 maH battery which gives you enough juice to go through a day and half without charging.

Oppo R15 also supports VOOC Fast charging at 5V/4A. One slight disadvantage about the smartphone is that it doesn’t come with a USB-C port.Coming to storage and RAM, the device has a 128GB of internal memory and 6GB of RAM.

SOFTWARE & OS

Coming to the software side of things, as I have mentioned this device comes with Color OS 5.0 which is almost the exact replica of the iOS. Vivo is another popular smartphone manufacture that follows this trend with their Funtouch OS.  So those who love the iOS will surely love the Color OS provided by Oppo.

Even though the OS looks very much like the iOS, it runs on Android 8.0 OREO. The other notable software feature is that the R15 Pro has a portrait mode and a slow-mo. but these don’t work as well as we expected.

CAMERA

As the brand advertises, the Oppo R15 is a camera phone which means it focuses mainly on the camera features.

On the back of the device, we can see a dual 16 (f/1.7, 1/2.6", 1.22 µm, PDAF) and  20 MP (f/1.7, 1/2.8", 1 µm) shooters. There is also An LED flash at bottom.

On the front there is a secondary 20 MP, f/2.0 1080p camera which takes pretty decent and impressive shots. One of the major con of the camera is that, the rear camera takes pictures which lacks proper sharpness.

So this is the review of Oppo R15 Pro, apart from the minor software glitches and camera issues this phone is best for those who love iOS skin and want an Android Alternative. Since this device is priced a bit higher, keep in mind that there are other devices at the same price which offers much more better features and less issues.

So what do you guys think about the Oppo R15 Pro, share your thoughts in the comments below...
